Scripture For Today
“‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” — Revelation 21:4 NIV
Some tears come from losses you can name. Others come from burdens you have carried quietly for so long that it is hard to explain why your heart feels heavy. Grief, disappointment, illness, broken relationships, anxiety, and unmet hopes can make life feel painfully unfinished.
This verse does not deny the reality of suffering. Instead, it gives suffering a boundary. Revelation 21:4 points to God’s promised future restoration, when death, mourning, crying, and pain will no longer define the human story. The “old order” marked by brokenness will pass away.
Notice the personal tenderness in the promise: “He will wipe every tear.” God is not distant from your pain. He sees what has hurt you, remembers the tears no one else saw, and cares about what has been lost. His future promise does not make your present grief unimportant; it assures you that grief will not have the final word.
Hope in Christ is not pretending everything is fine. It is choosing to believe that God is still good when life is painful, still near when answers are absent, and still able to bring redemption where you now see only loss. You may not understand why a particular hardship happened, but you can trust that God’s final purpose is not pain, death, or despair.
Walking with God enables you to grow faithfully through hard seasons while holding on to eternal hope. You can mourn honestly and still believe. You can seek help and still have faith. You can cry in the present while trusting that God is preparing a future where tears are fully and forever wiped away.
Three Practical Ways To Walk Out This Word Daily
1: Let Yourself Grieve With God
Do not pressure yourself to be strong by ignoring pain. Tell God what you miss, fear, or do not understand. Prayer can be as simple as, “Lord, this hurts. Please be near to me.” God welcomes your honest heart.
2: Look For Today’s Comfort
Ask God to show you one expression of His care today. It may come through a trusted friend, a peaceful moment, a needed provision, scripture, counseling, rest, or the strength to take the next step. His comfort may not remove every hardship immediately, but it can sustain you within it.
3: Share Hope With Someone Hurting
Reach out to a person who may be grieving or struggling. You do not need to explain their pain away. Offer your presence, listen without rushing them, pray if they welcome it, and remind them that God sees them. Faithful companionship can be a powerful form of comfort.
Closing Encouragement
Your tears matter to God. The pain you carry is real, but it is not permanent. God promises a day when death, mourning, crying, and pain will pass away, and His restoring presence will remain. Until that day, He is with you in every hard moment, giving grace for today and hope for what is still to come.
