I love messages that connect and expand us on a soul level. Messages that are catalysts to deep reflection have always been so precious to me. This simple but oh-so-powerful statement came to life for me after reaching out to support a friend who was struggling in the process of writing her book.Â
We’ve both been inspired to share our stories through the medium of the written word. We’re in a shared sisterhood and the message to write our books has become clear. When it became evident that she had hit a snag in her writing, we decided to jump on a call and connect.
We spoke for about 30 minutes, and I shared tips on what worked for me to get through blocks during my book-writing journey. She shared with me she had a fantastic day yesterday. After we spoke, she wrote for almost 5 hours. Progress made!Â
I loved hearing how she was able to clear the blocks after our call. But there was an unintended bonus. Spending time to support her also lifted me up to make progress on my book. Win-win! I am a firm believer that supporting others is the right thing to do.
I saw it for so many years with my mom and dad. They committed their lives to supporting others and had rich and fulfilling lives all the way to the end. My mother was a teacher and my father was a servant-hearted salesperson. They both through their professional and personal lives believed and lived out the power of supporting others.
They both loved their work and modeled the principles of love and support for my brother and me. I’m so happy I could see their work and feel the nearly immediate result of practicing the principle of supporting others.
Now, it’s your turn. Tell me: How have you supported someone recently so you both could rise? Even if it was simply a selfless act of supporting a friend, how did it impact you both? I’d love to hear your stories.
