Treasures Beyond The Earth

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." — Matthew 6:21 (NIV)
This verse invites us to reflect on what we value most. Jesus reminds us that the treasures we pursue reveal the condition of our hearts. When we invest our time, energy, and resources in heavenly things—faith, love, kindness, and service—we align our hearts with God’s eternal kingdom.
The treasures of this world—wealth, status, and material possessions—may bring temporary satisfaction, but they cannot fill the deepest needs of our souls. Matthew 6:19-20 emphasizes this truth: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” Treasures in heaven are eternal and grow as we cultivate a deeper relationship with Jesus.
Spending time with Jesus transforms us. The more we draw near to Him, the more we reflect His love and character. James 4:8 encourages us, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” In His presence, we find clarity, purpose, and peace.
Focusing on heavenly treasures doesn’t mean neglecting the responsibilities of daily life—it means living with an eternal perspective. Colossians 3:2 reminds us to, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” As we prioritize our relationship with Jesus, our hearts naturally turn toward what truly matters: loving God, loving others, and fulfilling His purposes.

Start Your Day with Jesus: Dedicate time this morning to prayer and reading scripture. Reflect on His goodness and ask Him to guide your thoughts and actions throughout the day.
Invest in Others: Perform a selfless act of kindness, such as encouraging a friend, helping a neighbor, or supporting someone in need. This builds treasures in heaven as you reflect Christ’s love.
Choose Eternal Over Temporary: When faced with a decision, consider how it aligns with God’s will. Focus on actions that honor Him and draw you closer to His purpose for your life.
As you set your heart on heavenly treasures, you’ll find a deeper connection to Jesus and a joy that transcends the fleeting things of this world. Let Him be your greatest treasure today.
