Scripture For Today
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” - Galatians 6:9 NIV
We all desire to see the results of our consistent, intentional decisions come forth in our lives. The education, the break in the business, the finished manuscript, and the fulfilled promise from the Lord. It’s the waiting that causes many to give up before ever seeing the finished work of the Lord. Patience and longsuffering are a fruit of the Spirit for a reason.
The Father knows that we can not do this on our owm. Many can work hard, but the grace of God is needed to truly hold fast to the confession of one’s faith when nothing seems to be going the way we envision. This when trusting in God becomes the priority and not growing weary becomes the path foward.
Galatians 6:9 acknowledges that weariness is real and encourages the believer to fully trust in the Lord through the weariness. It promises that there will be evidence of the waiting in the form of a harvest IF we do not give up. He knows the plans that He thinks of you to give you a future and a hope, not to harm you. Hold on the promise and do not give up.
Do Not Confuse Weariness With Failure
Do not give up on the good God has called you to do simply because the process has become difficult. You may be planting seeds that take time to grow:
A patient word may shape a relationship more than you realize.
A prayer may be working in someone’s heart before you see outward change.
An act of integrity may protect your character and open future doors.
A generous choice may bring help and hope into a person’s difficult season.
A daily decision to obey God may gradually transform your mind and habits.
Whatever the seed, trust in the Lord and allow the seeds you plant to mature and come forth in due season.
Three Practical Ways To Walk Out This Word
1: Return To The Next Faithful Step
Do not pressure yourself to solve the entire situation today. Ask, “What is one good and faithful action God is asking me to take now?” It may be a prayer, an encouraging message, an honest conversation, a completed task, a boundary, an apology, or an act of service. Focus on today’s seed rather than demanding tomorrow’s harvest.
2: Let Someone Share The Load
Weariness grows when burdens stay hidden. Tell a trusted friend, pastor, counselor, family member, or mature believer that you are tired. Ask specifically for prayer, encouragement, practical help, accountability, or time to rest. Receiving support is not giving up; it is a wise part of persevering.
3: Remember Why You Began
Write down the good work God has placed in front of you and why it matters. Then recall one sign of grace, growth, or provision you have already seen, even if it seems small. Gratitude helps strengthen your heart when the outcome is still developing.
Closing Encouragement
The good you do in faith is not invisible to God. He knows the cost of continuing when you are tired, discouraged, or waiting for fruit you cannot yet see. Rest when you need rest, receive help when you need help, and keep taking the next faithful step. In God’s proper time, He is able to bring a harvest from seeds you may have thought were buried and forgotten.
