There are times when your prayers may feel too small for the size of the need. You may see limited resources, unanswered questions, closed doors, personal weaknesses, or a future you cannot fully picture. In those moments, it is easy to assume that what you can see is all that is possible.
This passage points beyond the limits of our finite perspective to the capacity and abilities of an infinite God. Paul closes his prayer by praising the one who can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine. Not according to human effort, perfect planning, or emotional strength, but according to God’s power at work within His people.
This does not mean God promises to fulfill every desire exactly as we picture it. The focus of the passage is God’s glory in the church and in Christ Jesus. God’s power is not a tool for making life revolve around our personal wishes; it is His active work to accomplish His good purposes, shape us in Christ, and reveal His glory through His people.
You can bring God bold prayers without fear. Pray for healing, restored relationships, provision, wisdom, freedom, direction, spiritual growth, and courage. Then remain open to the possibility that God may answer in a way that is wiser, deeper, or different from what you expected. His ability is never limited by the boundaries of your imagination.
When you live a life guided by the power at work within you, you live in a way that demonstrates the power of God over and over again. His power isn’t merely reserved for extraordinary breakthroughs. His power is within us, working day by day to build the foundation and the fruit that goes beyond all we can ask or think.
Three Practical Ways To Walk Out This Word Daily
1: Pray Beyond The Obvious
Bring one situation to God that feels bigger than your own ability. Be honest about what you want, but also pray, “Lord, accomplish Your wise and good purpose in this situation, beyond what I can currently see.” Let faith make room for God’s greater work.
2: Notice God’s Power In Small Steps
Do not overlook quiet evidence of God at work. A changed response, strength to keep going, renewed desire to pray, courage to apologize, peace during uncertainty, or patience in a difficult season can all reflect His power within you. Thank God for progress that may not look dramatic but is still real.
3: Give God The Glory
When God answers prayer, provides a way forward, strengthens you, or uses your life to encourage someone else, pause and give Him credit. Share what He has done with humility, not to draw attention to yourself, but to point others toward His faithfulness.

Your present limitations do not define God’s ability. He can work beyond what you can plan, request, or imagine, and His power is already at work within you. Keep praying, keep obeying, and keep trusting Him with what you cannot control.
