Scripture For Today
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. - John 14:6 NIV
The way, the truth, and the life. The way, the truth, and the life. Jesus declared to the disciples another facet of His God-ordained identity. They knew Him as Teacher, Master, Son of God, Messiah. They’d seen Him raise Lazarus from the dead and restore sight to the blind. But here, on the eve of Jesus laying his life down as a living sacrifice… Jesus shared that He was the way to the Father.
Not a way. The only way.
…. No One comes to the Father except through me. - John 14:6 NIV
This final revelation of His identity before laying down His life has echoed through time as both a promise of and a requirement in our walk with God. We have access to God through Jesus if we go through Jesus alone. In a world that has continuously tried to deny the power and divinity of Jesus, this definitive path to Jesus becomes the cornerstone of our faith.
By accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you receive everlasting life. Beyond the weight of this world and everything in it, we have the love of God as our peace and our reward. We are reconciled back to God through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We are lifted with Christ Jesus through His life.
6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. - Ephesians 2:6-7 NIV
The moment you decide to trust the process and rest on this journey with Jesus, the striving and pursuit of the things of this world come to an end. You seek first His kingdom (Matthew 6:33), and all the things that you need are added to your life in season.
Receive in your heart that Jesus is the way. He is the one who makes the crooked ways straight. Rejoice knowing that you have a sure path to God facilitated through the life of His son. Jesus Christ. The way has already been made, and the path is being paved daily by your faith.
Every time you lean into Jesus through prayer, praise, fasting, and resting in His presence, you strengthen your relationship with the one who is with you, always. The question Thomas voiced that fateful evening was a desire for certainty. When he asked how they could know the way forward, Jesus responded with clarity that would anchor their faith for generations.
He did not point them toward a map or a method. He pointed them toward Himself. Jesus is the certainty Thomas was given.
Jesus didn’t just give Himself in the literal sense of being a living sacrifice. Here, speaking to the disciples, he gave us all certainty in giving us himself as the way forward. Jesus becomes the truth you can stand on, the life that revives you, and the way you can follow forward.
