Scripture for Today
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. - Matthew 25:34
When you have a heart that reflects Christ and you love and care for others as he commands us to love and care for others, you are walking in your inheritance. You’re walking in the Kingdom of Heaven versus the kingdom of darkness.
Scripture for today is the tail end of a parable that Jesus told about us walking with god. These were instructions in Matthew to be more like Christ. The examples given in verses 35 and 36 of the same chapter are to feed the hungry, invite the stranger, and visit the prisoner while they are in jail.
To do these things for the least of them, as Jesus explains, would be to do these things for Him:
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ - Matthew 25:40
The Kingdom of Heaven is our inheritance. It is our birthright as believers in Jesus Christ reborn by His Spirit. When we walk with Jesus and have a heart of Christ, we are operating in Kingdom of Heaven principles. We are operating as ambassadors of Christ who are in the world but not of this world. We are operating in transformed minds rather than being conformed to the ways of this world.
Instead of looking to do all of these things for those in better positions and those that we deem as worthy, the Lord gives this parable to demonstrate the power of being one of His sheep. To be one who knows His voice and walks in His steps is to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
Take hold of your birthright today. Remember to do this for the least of these. Not just for those who are in positions of authority or for those whom you deem more worthy. But for the least of these, demonstrate the love of Christ always.
Three Practical Ways To Walk Out This Word Daily
1. Live with the Assurance of Your Inheritance
Each day, remind yourself that God has already prepared an eternal inheritance for you through Christ. This truth brings peace when life feels uncertain. Ephesians 1:11 declares that in Him we have obtained an inheritance. Let this promise anchor your heart and give you confidence in every circumstance.
2. Walk in Daily Gratitude
Respond to God’s gift of an eternal kingdom by living with a grateful heart. Begin your day by thanking Him for salvation, His provision, and the hope of eternity with Him. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 instructs us to give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. Gratitude keeps your focus on God’s blessings.
3. Pursue Kingdom-Minded Living
Since the kingdom has been prepared for you, live now in a way that reflects heaven’s values. Prioritize righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). Let your decisions and interactions reveal that you belong to the King and are awaiting your eternal inheritance.
Closing Encouragement
The Father has called you blessed and has prepared a kingdom for you since the beginning of time. Walk with assurance, gratitude, and kingdom focus, knowing your inheritance in Christ is secure. Each day lived in His truth draws you closer to the fulfillment of this promise.
