The Favor of God Brings Peace and Rest
Luke 2:14 (NIV): "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."
The night Jesus was born, heaven rejoiced, and the angels declared peace over the earth. This wasn’t just an ordinary peace—it was the kind that comes from the favor of God. His favor doesn’t mean a life free of challenges, but it does mean we can walk through life with divine peace, knowing that He is with us.
True Peace Comes from Trusting God
Many seek peace in their circumstances, relationships, or success, but true peace comes only from trusting in the Lord. Isaiah 26:3 reminds us: "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."
God’s favor is not about material blessings alone—it’s about the assurance that He is for us. When we lift Him up in our hearts and trust His plans, we experience a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). This means that even in uncertain times, we can rest knowing that God is in control.
God’s Favor Brings Rest
When we walk in God's favor, we can stop striving and start resting in His grace. Matthew 11:28 says: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
This rest isn’t just physical—it’s spiritual and emotional rest, the kind that allows us to release anxiety, fear, and worry. Instead of carrying life’s burdens, we can entrust them to God and live in His peace.
Three Ways to Walk in Peace and Favor Daily
Lift Up God in Worship – When we glorify God, we shift our focus from our problems to His power. Worship reminds us that He is sovereign over every situation. Psalm 29:11 declares: "The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace." Spend time in worship daily, whether through music, prayer, or reading His Word.
Trust God in Every Situation – Peace comes from surrendering control to God. Instead of worrying, practice giving your concerns to Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Live with Gratitude and Faith – Recognizing God’s favor in your life brings a deeper sense of peace. Start each day by thanking Him for His faithfulness. Colossians 3:15 encourages us: "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."
God’s favor is not earned—it’s freely given through Jesus. As you trust in Him, lift Him up, and rest in His promises, His peace will guard your heart and mind, no matter what comes your way.
