Scripture for Today
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. -Hebrews 11:1 NIV
Faith is the intangible power of God that is activated by you, through you, and for the expansion of the Kingdom of God. When God calls you to take both steps, to believe deeper than you've ever believed, and to walk out a journey that you've never experienced before, He is trusting you to walk out these things so that He can use you as a demonstration.
We see throughout scripture how the mighty women of God and mighty men of God are giving edicts, instructions, and clear direction out of old seasons and into new seasons. Their lives were used as living demonstrations of the power of God to affect change for their community, for their nation, and for their families. Faith is the pathway to seeing the hand of God in every situation in your life.
All throughout scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, we see where Abraham was called to sacrifice the very thing that God gave him. We can see where Gideon was called a mighty man of God, despite his hiding food in the wine press. We see Rehab the Harlot being used to cover spies and save her entire family from death in the process. All throughout scripture, faith is the gateway to new circumstances, breakthrough, and elevation.
It's the same today as it is in the scripture. The living word still rings true today. God has given each of us a measure of faith, and it is by this faith that we see things change. Revelations 12:3 in the King James Version reads:
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. - Revelations 12:3 KJV
Bearing in mind that faith without works is dead, Hebrews 11:1 serves as a commandment, not simply a definition of what faith is, but instruction on how we can walk our faith out. The full chapter of Hebrews 11 gives the full context of the verse and notes how the leaders of old in the Bible obtained the good report.
That good report is the evidence that what they believed was indeed the promise of God. You don't get to the evidence without activating the faith. Remember this morning to give everything to God. Release all the worry of yesterday and remember that today is a brand new day for you to receive, believe, and step into “Now Faith”.
