Scripture For Today
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” - Matthew 6:34 NIV
Jesus speaks these words in the middle of His teaching about worry, provision, and trust in God. He reminds those listening that their heavenly Father knows what they need and cares for them deeply. Rather than carrying the weight of an imagined future, Jesus calls them back to the grace available for the present day.
Worry often pulls tomorrow’s possibilities into today. It asks you to solve problems that have not happened, prepare for outcomes you cannot predict, and carry responsibilities that have not yet arrived. Before long, the mind becomes crowded with questions that cannot be answered yet.
Jesus does not tell us that tomorrow will be free from difficulty. In fact, He acknowledges that each day has trouble of its own. His instruction is not to pretend that challenges do not exist. It is to refuse to carry tomorrow’s trouble before tomorrow comes.
God gives grace for the day you are living. The wisdom, strength, patience, provision, and direction you need often become clear as you move forward. You may not receive every answer for next month while standing in today, but you can trust God to meet you when that day arrives.
There is freedom in returning your attention to what is actually in front of you. Today has enough room for prayer, obedience, work, rest, relationships, and the next faithful step. You do not have to live ten days at once.
Three Practical Ways To Walk Out This Word
1: Bring Your Mind Back To Today
When you notice yourself rehearsing future problems, pause and ask, “What actually requires my attention today?” Write down the one or two things you can address now and release the rest to God in prayer.
2: Separate Preparation From Worry
Healthy preparation takes wise action with the information you have. Worry repeatedly circles what you cannot control. If there is something practical you can do, do it. If there is nothing to do yet, choose to stop carrying the question as though thinking about it longer will create certainty.
3: Trust God With The Unseen
Name the tomorrow you are worried about and give it to God specifically. Pray over the decision, conversation, financial need, relationship, deadline, or uncertainty. Then remind yourself that you do not have to know how everything will unfold in order to trust the One who will meet you there.
Closing Encouragement
You do not need tomorrow’s strength today. You need today’s grace for today’s responsibilities. God is already present in the future you cannot see, and He will not ask you to face it without Him. Stay with what He has placed in front of you now. Take the next faithful step, receive the grace available for this day, and allow tomorrow to arrive in its own time.
