Scripture For Today
“I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” - Psalm 9:1 NIV
David begins this psalm with a decision to give thanks wholeheartedly and to remember what God has done. His gratitude is not vague. It is connected to specific evidence of God’s faithfulness.
That is an important reminder because gratitude can easily become general. We may say that we are thankful for God without slowing down long enough to remember the actual ways He has carried us, answered us, protected us, provided for us, or changed us.
Remembering strengthens gratitude.
There are things you may be living in today that were once prayers. There may be situations God brought you through that once felt impossible. There are doors He opened, relationships He restored, lessons He taught, and moments when He gave you strength you didn’t know you had.
When you intentionally remember those things, your perspective begins to shift. The problems in front of you are real, but they are no longer the only story you can see. David also says he will tell of God’s wonderful deeds.
Gratitude was not meant to stay hidden.
Sharing what God has done can encourage someone else, strengthen your own faith, and remind you that His goodness is worth speaking about.
Your testimony does not have to be dramatic to matter. Sometimes the wonderful deed is simply that God gave you peace when you expected panic, provided at the right moment, helped you endure a difficult season, and gave you another chance to begin again.
There is power in remembering what God has done and refusing to let His faithfulness become easy to forget.
Three Practical Ways To Walk Out This Word
1: Remember Three Specific Things
Take a few minutes and name three things God has done for you. Be specific. Think about prayers He answered, ways He provided, moments He protected you, lessons He taught you, or strength He gave during a difficult season.
2: Thank God With Your Whole Attention
Give God a few uninterrupted minutes of gratitude. Put aside distractions and thank Him intentionally for who He is and what He has done. Let gratitude become more than a quick sentence before moving on with your day.
3: Tell Someone What God Has Done
Share one story of God’s faithfulness with someone today. It may be a friend, family member, coworker, or someone who needs encouragement. Your testimony may remind them that God is still working in their life too.
Closing Encouragement
Look back and remember how far He has brought you. Notice the prayers that became answers, the doors that opened, the strength that appeared when you needed it, and the grace that carried you through. Give thanks with your whole heart, and do not be afraid to tell the story. Remembering what God has done can give you fresh confidence for whatever comes next.
