Scripture For Today
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” - Galatians 6:2 NIV
Paul reminds believers that the Christian life was never meant to be lived in isolation. There are moments when the weight someone carries becomes too heavy to manage alone, and love steps in to help bear the load.
Carrying another person’s burden does not always mean solving their problem. Sometimes it means listening without rushing them, praying when they are too tired to find the words, helping with something practical, or simply staying present when life feels overwhelming.
There is a difference between supporting someone and trying to control what happens next. You are not responsible for fixing every situation, rescuing everyone, or taking ownership of burdens that belong to God. But you can choose to make someone’s load lighter through compassion, generosity, encouragement, and care.
The “law of Christ” is rooted in love. Jesus consistently moved toward people in their weakness, grief, need, and pain. He noticed what others overlooked. He made room for the hurting. He served, restored, and carried what others could not carry alone.
This kind of love can be deeply practical. It may look like sending the message, making the meal, offering a ride, giving financial help, sitting in silence, checking in again, or choosing patience with someone who is walking through a difficult season.
You may not be able to change what someone is facing, but your presence can remind them that they are not facing it alone.
Three Practical Ways To Walk Out This Word
1: Ask Who Needs Support Today
Take a moment and ask God to bring someone to mind who may be carrying more than you realize. Reach out without assuming they will ask first. A simple message like, “How are you really doing?” can open the door for someone to feel seen.
2: Offer Practical Help
Instead of only saying, “Let me know if you need anything,” consider offering something specific. Make a call, bring a meal, help with an errand, watch the children, give encouragement, or provide another form of support you are genuinely able to give.
3: Carry Without Trying To Control
Support the person without taking over their life. Pray, listen, encourage, and help where appropriate, but trust God with the outcome. Love can be present without becoming responsible for everything.
Closing Encouragement
One of the clearest ways we reflect Christ is by helping someone carry what feels too heavy. Your kindness may not remove the burden completely, but it can make the road feel less lonely. A thoughtful word, a practical act, a prayer, or your steady presence can become a reminder of God’s care. Be willing to notice. Be willing to help. Sometimes love looks like simply saying, “You do not have to carry this on your own.”
