Scripture for Today
Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture: “ ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. - Mark 12:10 NIV
Jesus was sent by God to reconcile us back unto Himself. The Bible says in John 3:16 that for God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son. Out of the abundance of love that He had for us, God sent Jesus to bridge the gap.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16
The Pharisees rejected that love. The religious leaders of the time chose to question, undermine, and eventually crucify Jesus. In this passage of scripture, Jesus is sharing a parable that clearly demonstrates to all those listening that the Pharisees have been a problem. They have maimed, beaten, and killed prophets that God sent before.
This scripture clearly shows that the Pharisees have become destructive in that they are builders who are rejecting the very person that is the foundation of what they were called to build. Here, Jesus conveys that He is the Cornerstone. He is the foundation on which the builders are to build God’s bride.
Although He is being rejected, he conveys that he will be the most essential part of the growth of the kingdom of heaven on earth. God calls us to remember that He is God alone. He reminds us to pray. He reminds us to worship. He guides us to walk with Him, to trust in Him, and to receive him as our Lord and Savior. Don't allow a hardened heart to cause you to reject the very thing that God has for you.
Three Practical Ways To Walk Out This Word Daily
1. Build Your Life on Christ the Cornerstone
Make Jesus the foundation of every decision and priority in your life. Begin your day in prayer and Scripture, asking the Lord for wisdom and strength to align your steps with His will. When challenges arise, return to the truth that Christ is your anchor. As 1 Corinthians 3:11 reminds us, "For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ."
2. Guard Your Heart Against Rejection of Truth
The Pharisees rejected Jesus because of pride and hardened hearts. To avoid falling into the same trap, practice humility before God. Allow His Word to correct and shape you even when it convicts. Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." This daily surrender helps keep your heart soft and receptive.
3. Walk Boldly in Faith and Witness
Since Jesus is the Cornerstone, you are called to reflect His love and truth to others. Boldly share your faith through words and actions, even if rejected by some. Remember Matthew 5:16, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Your faithfulness can draw others to the foundation of Christ.
Closing Encouragement
Jesus, though rejected by men, became the very Cornerstone of salvation and life. As you stand on Him, your life will remain firm and unshakable. Choose daily to build on His truth, keep your heart tender, and live boldly for His glory. He is the Rock that cannot be moved.
