Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. - Matthew 5:8 NIV
When you're walking with God and committed to being like Christ in how you love, your heart becomes open and pure. It becomes full of the love of God and the patience that comes with that love. You begin to extend grace to people more quickly. You start to see the best in others and believe in them.
A heart that is pure and full of love operates differently. Where the doors of the hearts of other believers may be closed and full of bias, the person with a clean heart and right spirit keeps the doors open for a move of God. Romans 12:2 states:
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” - Romans 12:2 KJV
Having this purity of heart with pure intentions is the way that you get before the Lord in prayer and in fasting. Your desire to see things shift and to see your family changed are all a part of that growth. You cannot have bitterness and pain in your heart and be blessed by God. You cannot have the appearance of being genuine and somehow fool God into believing that your heart is pure.
Man may see the outer appearance but God sees the heart of a man:
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” - 1 Samuel 16:7 NIV
Because God looks at the heart, you can be sure that the man who has a pure heart will behold the glory of God. He will see the Lord and be blessed. There's no need to perform for this blessing. The blessing comes with a submitted heart and pure intentions in. how you love and care for others.
Three practical ways to walk out this scripture:
1. Commit to Heart Cleansing Through Daily Surrender
Invite God to examine and purify your inner life.
A pure heart begins with daily surrender. Take time each day to be honest with God about what is really going on inside of you. Psalm 51:10 says, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Purity of heart is not achieved through perfection but through repentance and consistent renewal. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of unforgiveness, pride, or offense, and be quick to release them. A surrendered heart becomes fertile ground for God's presence to dwell and move freely.
2. Renew Your Mind With the Word of God
Align your thoughts with truth so that your motives stay clean.
Romans 12:2 reminds us that transformation happens when our minds are renewed. Reading and meditating on the Word helps you filter out bitterness, comparison, and worldliness. As you fill your mind with truth, your heart follows. A mind saturated in scripture helps guard against impure motives and guides you into a posture of humility and love. Let your Bible reading be more than routine. Let it be an intentional act of purification that brings your heart into alignment with the heart of God.
3. Love People With No Hidden Agenda
Let your kindness be genuine, expecting nothing in return.
One of the clearest signs of a pure heart is loving others with sincerity. First Peter 1:22 says, “Love one another deeply, from the heart.” Pure-hearted people do not love for recognition or manipulation. They give grace freely because they have received grace deeply. Practice kindness that is not performative. Speak words that uplift rather than impress. Serve others quietly, without seeking applause. When your love is without pretense, it reflects the heart of God and makes space for His glory to be revealed in your life.
Living with a pure heart is not about being perfect. It is about continually choosing God over ego, love over performance, and truth over appearances. When you walk this way, you position yourself to see God more clearly in every part of your life.
