Declaring God’s Glory Among the Nations
1 Chronicles 16:24 (NIV) says:
“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.”
You were created with a purpose that echoes through eternity—worship. From the beginning of time, God formed humanity not only to work and live but to glorify Him. Worship is more than a song or a moment; it’s a lifestyle of declaring who God is and lifting Him above everything else that competes for our attention and affection. As 1 Chronicles 16:24 proclaims, we are called to declare His glory among the nations and tell of His marvelous deeds to all peoples. This isn't a quiet, passive faith—it’s bold, visible, and rooted in obedience and thanksgiving.
Let’s walk through four truths that highlight why worship is central to our walk with God, and how it powerfully aligns us with His will and presence.
1. We Were Created to Worship
Worship is not optional—it’s our divine design. Isaiah 43:21 (NIV) says,
“The people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.”
You were handcrafted by the Creator with the specific purpose of reflecting His glory. When we worship, we are simply returning to the core of who we were made to be. It reconnects us to God’s presence and re-centers our hearts in the truth of His sovereignty and love.
2. Even Creation Worships God
Jesus once said something powerful in response to the praise He received:
“I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” — Luke 19:40 (NIV)
This verse shows that worship is so integral to creation that if we don’t praise Him, the very rocks will rise up in our place. All of creation was made to glorify the Lord. The wind obeys Him, the stars shine for Him, and the seas roar His name. We have the unique privilege of using our hearts, voices, and lives to worship intentionally and joyfully.
3. Worship Is an Act of Obedience
Worship is not based on how we feel—it’s a choice to obey and exalt God no matter the circumstance. Deuteronomy 10:12 (NIV) reminds us,
“What does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”
Even in trials, we worship because we trust in God's character, not our conditions. True worship is offering God your praise even when it’s hard—especially when it’s hard.
4. Thanksgiving and Praise Usher Us Into God’s Presence
Worship opens the door to intimacy with God. Psalm 100:4 (NIV) tells us,
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”
When we intentionally thank and praise God, we enter into His presence with an open heart. Worship breaks chains, lifts burdens, and aligns us with heaven. It shifts our perspective from what’s wrong to who God is.
Three Practical Ways to Seek the Will of God Daily Through Worship
Begin Each Day With Praise
Before reaching for your phone or diving into your to-do list, start your morning with worship. Speak aloud a psalm or sing a song of praise. Thank God for who He is and declare His goodness over your day.Create a Lifestyle of Worship Beyond Music
Worship isn’t confined to church or songs—it can be found in how you speak, serve, and live. Choose to honor God in your actions, attitudes, and decisions. Let your work, relationships, and thoughts reflect a heart surrendered in worship.Share His Glory With Others
As 1 Chronicles 16:24 calls us to do, declare His glory among the people you interact with daily. Testify of His goodness in conversations, your social media, and your community. Evangelism becomes a form of worship when we share what God has done.
When you choose to worship, you shift the atmosphere. You magnify God and minimize distractions. You put Him on the throne of your heart, where He belongs. Remember, worship isn’t just what you do—it’s who you are. So lift up your voice, declare His glory, and live a life of praise that makes heaven rejoice.
